Children of the World 100 Piece Puzzle

Dear Saranga,

We originally commissioned the illustrations for the Children of the World Puzzle for a set of Wall Cards. That product included the explanation below, which we forgot to include when we created the puzzle. Thanks so much for bringing this oversight to our attention! We will correct it when we reprint the puzzle!

eeBoo’s Children of the World Art Cards feature illustrations of children from countries starting with every letter of the alphabet. Since no modern country starts with the letter “X”, we chose to feature a child from Xanadu. Xanadu, in what is now Inner Mongolia, was the summer capital of Emperor Kublai Khan’s empire until approximately 1369. Outside of China, Kublai Khan was primarily known for his meeting with the great explorer Marco Polo. The Romantic poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, described the emperor's beautiful palace in his poem, Kubla Khan.

We hope that these cards will encourage children to imagine faraway people and offer a chance to relate to distant cultures. Children come in all shapes and sizes, wear different clothes, play with different toys, eat different food and yet have many things in common. There are millions of children from these countries and others across the world, millions of faces and millions of stories, all beautiful!
