About the artist

Diana Sudyka is a Chicago-based artist and children’s book illustrator. As a child she was --and still is-- the one looking under logs for snails, bugs, and salamanders. Her gouache, watercolor, and ink paintings’ subject matter and aesthetic choices are inspired by a passion for nature and science, and a love for various folk art traditions. When not working, Diana hikes forests and prairies with her family, and sometimes volunteers in the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History’s bird lab.
